Here is #Quinoa from the an average vendor, $35 for 20lbs. I've seen some vendors charge up to $55 for 25lbs. So the price can vary.

Quinoa, in most cases, comes from South America. But that is a problem. The locals in South American can no longer afford their staple crop. Quinoa is in such demand that the price has drastically risen and forcing it out of the country. It's created a shortage of the “Mother Grain” in it's homeland. Quinoa is a very nutritious food source that is being torn away from that part of the world.

Well we love quinoa too at Aroma Thyme. But how do we combat this?
We buy American quinoa from a farm in Colorado. We have been on this farm many times and have learned a lot about this wonderful grain.

Our quinoa cost much much more than the one pictured. It runs us around $100 a bag depending on the varietal we buy. We are very proud to support a food system that is based on socially responsibility.

When people say that our food is expensive they really don't know the full story of how hard we work to balance sustainable sourcing across the board from salt, palm sugar, cooking oil, bathroom hand soap and most ingredients in-between including our bar items. Lots of basic items that most restaurants could care less about we gladly pay much more for. It's hard to buy cheap food once you know the difference.
